Latrobe City Council 2025/26 Annual Report highlights year of investment and delivery

Latrobe City Council invested more than $68 million in community facilities, roads and infrastructure during 2025/26 while continuing to deliver the everyday services residents rely on, according to its latest Annual Report.

The report provides an overview of Council’s performance for the year, highlighting major projects, essential services and community programs delivered across Latrobe City.

Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said the report showed the wide range of work Council delivers for the community every year.

“It’s been a busy year for Latrobe City and there is a lot we can be proud of,” Cr Gibson said.

“We’ve delivered important projects, maintained essential services and continued investing in the things that make our community a great place to live.

“Whether it’s maintaining roads and parks, collecting waste, running libraries and leisure centres, supporting creative arts and venues, helping local events or improving sporting facilities, we’re focused on delivering services and facilities our community can rely on.”

Major projects completed or progressed during the year included the new pavilion at Traralgon Recreation Reserve, the Kay Street car park and upgrades at Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe.

Council continued to deliver a range of services used by residents every day. During the year, Council provided 37,052 free hard waste collections, libraries welcomed 228,575 visits and leisure facilities recorded more than 522,500 visits. A total of 965 children took part in learn-to-swim programs. Council-run major events contributed an estimated $35 million to the local economy.

Arts and culture also featured strongly, with 52,458 tickets sold across Latrobe’s performing arts venues. Latrobe Regional Gallery also held 31 visual arts workshops as part of its calendar of vibrant exhibitions.

Cr Gibson said Council had also continued to focus on creating opportunities for future economic growth.

“While we’re delivering for our community today, we’re also planning for the future,” Cr Gibson said.

“Through projects such as the Gippsland Logistics and Manufacturing Precinct and the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct, we’re working to attract investment, support local jobs and create opportunities for future generations.”

The Annual Report includes detailed financial information and reports on Council’s performance for the year ended 30 June 2026.
