NSW police charge woman with drug supply after ‘ice’ concealed in handbag lining at Lake Illawarra

A woman will re-appear in court today after more than $50,000 of ‘ice’ was located in her handbag in the Illawarra last week.

About 8pm on Friday 10 July 2020, officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were patrolling King Street, Warilla, when they noticed a woman driving a hire car.

Officers followed the car as it turned into Shellharbour Road and spoke with the driver, a 41-year-old woman.

A subsequent search of the woman’s handbag allegedly revealed methylamphetamine concealed within the lining.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of $58,000.

The woman was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where she was charged with supply prohibited drug.

She was refused bail and is due to re-appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 17 July 2020).
