NSW police charge women after mobility scooter stolen at Lake Illawarra

Two women have been charged after allegedly stealing a mobility scooter during a break and enter in Lake Illawarra.

About 2.45am on Wednesday 1 July 2020, two women allegedly entered a caravan at Osborne Parade, Warilla, while two men were inside.

The women allegedly stole the keys to a mobility scooter that was parked outside and the wallet of one of the men, before leaving the caravan park on the scooter.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and commenced investigations into the incident.

About 5pm yesterday (Friday 3 July 2020), officers located the mobility scooter at a home on George Street, Warilla.

Following inquiries, two women, aged 35 and 39, were arrested at Bass Street, Barrack Heights, at around 2.20pm today (Saturday 4 July 2020).

They were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

The older woman was charged with aggravated break and enter.

The younger woman was charged with aggravated break and enter, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

They were refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 5 July 2020).
