A teenage boy has been charged following a number of armed robberies at service stations in Sydney’s west yesterday.
Police will allege in court that, just before 2am (Monday 23 November 2020), two men in a white Honda CRV stopped a service station on Flushcombe Road, Blacktown where they threatened a shop attendant with a knife before leaving empty-handed.
About 2.30am, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command responded to reports of an armed robbery at a service station on Cabramatta Road, Bonnyrigg. It’s alleged a man wearing a surgical mask and armed with a knife threatened the male attendant before stealing cash and fleeing in a white Honda CRV.
Soon after, about 5am, at a service station on Bungarribee Road, Doonside, a male entered the store and allegedly threatened an employee with a knife before fleeing on foot empty-handed.
Then, just before 5.20am, police were called to another armed robbery at a service station nearby on Bungarribee Road, Doonside, where a male allegedly threatened an employee with a knife before stealing cash and fleeing in a white Honda CRV.
About 6am police responded to reports of a car on fire on Hyland Road, Greystanes. The fire was extinguished, and checks revealed it was a Honda CRV.
As a result of investigations by detectives from Blacktown and Fairfield Police Area Commands, a 16-year-old boy was arrested at Concord Hospital where he was being treated for burns.
He was charged with attempt robbery armed with offensive weapon (x2), being carried in a conveyance taken without consent, robbery armed with an offensive weapon (x2), and destroy or damage property in company use fire.
He was refused bail and will appear at a bedside hearing today (Tuesday 24 November 2020).
