NSW police find unconscious man and woman, methamphetamine, firearms in utility at Armidale

A man and woman were hospitalised after being found unconscious in a vehicle allegedly containing methamphetamine, firearms and ammunition in the state’s Northern Tablelands.

About 6pm on Wednesday (11 December 2019), officers attached to the New England Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol located a Nissan Navara utility parked in Lions Park on the New England Highway at Armidale.

Police observed a man and woman, aged 62 and 27, unconscious inside the vehicle.

They were taken by ambulance to Armidale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

During a search of the utility, officers allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, cash, drug administering equipment, four unregistered firearms and ammunition.

Upon being released from hospital, the man and woman were arrested about 11am yesterday (Thursday 12 December 2019) and taken to Armidale Police Station.

The man was charged with supply prohibited drug – less than commercial quantity, possess unregistered firearms in circumstances of aggravation, possess unauthorised firearm (x4), possess ammunition without licence, and possess/use weapon without permit.

The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug less than commercial quantity.

Both were bail refused to appear before Armidale Local Court today (Friday 13 December 2019).
