NSW police investigate armed robbery in shopping centre carpark at Wagga Wagga

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 7am (Saturday 7 December 2019) a 70-year-old woman parked her car in the underground carpark at a shopping centre on Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga.

As she was walking through the carpark towards the escalators, a car pulled up alongside her, and a man allegedly armed with a knife exited the vehicle.

He demanded the woman hand over her wallet, which included her phone in it, before knocking it out of her hand.

The man picked up the phone and got back into the vehicle, which is believed to have also contained two other occupants, before fleeing the scene.

The woman was uninjured.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

The offender was last seen wearing dark clothing with a bandana over his face but was not further described.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area at that time or who may have CCTV or dashcam vision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
