NSW police launch investigation into suspicious cathedral fire at Lismore

Police are investigating a fire at a cathedral in the state’s north this morning

Emergency services were called to the cathedral on Dawson Street, Lismore, about 6.40am (Friday 18 September 2020), following reports of a fire.

NSW Fire and Rescue are working to extinguish the blaze, which has caused significant damage to the building.

No one was inside at the time.

Officers from Richmond Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

Police are urging people to avoid the area.
