NSW police launch investigation into suspicious fire at Culcairn

Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into a suspicious fire in the state’s south.

About 10.50am on Saturday 28 November 2020, emergency services were called to a bushfire on the Walla Henty Road at Culcairn.

The fire, which destroyed approximately 15-20 hectares of canola and hay, was extinguished by the Rural Fire Service.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

Initial inquiries suggest the fire was deliberately lit.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a maroon Subaru wagon, with red provisional plates and no exhaust, in the area around the time of the fire.

Police are also appealing for the driver of this vehicle to come forward, as they may be able to assist with inquiries.

Inquiries are continuing.
