NSW police lay charges after shots fired into car

Police have now charged a man following a shooting at Chester Hill at the weekend.

Just before 9.30pm on Sunday 9 August 2020, police were called to Alpha Street, Chester Hill, following reports shots had been fired.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

A short time later, a 38-year-old man attended Granville Police Station. Police were told shots were fired into his car following an altercation on Alpha Street. He was uninjured.

Following further investigations, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended a home at Chester Hill, about 5pm yesterday (Monday 10 August 2020), and arrested a 20-year-old man.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 11 August 2020).

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing and further arrests are expected.
