A man has been charged after a woman was allegedly assaulted and robbed in Sydney’s west last week.
Police have been told a 50-year-old woman was walking to Kingswood Railway Station on her way to work about 5.15am Wednesday (12 February 2020), when she was approached by two males near the intersection of Joseph and Amaroo streets.
She was allegedly assaulted and her backpack – containing a wallet and phone – allegedly stolen before they left the scene.
When the woman returned home to get help she was taken to Nepean Hospital by her partner, where she was treated for multiple facial injuries. She has now been released and is recovering at home.
Officers from Nepean Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Last Friday (14 February 2020) detectives executed a search warrant at the address of a 27-year-old man, and a number of items relevant to the investigation were seized.
These items will undergo forensic examination and inquiries are continuing.
On Saturday (15 February 2020) officers from Police Transport Command were called to St Marys Public Bus interchange after reports of an argument.
A 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to St Marys Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated robbery.
He was also charged with resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, in relation to the incident on 15 February 2020.
He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (17 February 2020).
