NSW police lay charges after woman sexually touched and intimidated at Newtown

A man has been charged over allegedly sexually touching and intimidating a woman in Sydney’s inner west.

About 4.20pm yesterday (Friday 17 April 2020), a 27-year-old woman was walking down King Street, Newtown, when a man allegedly began to follow her.

The man then allegedly grabbed the woman and sexually touched her.

The woman managed to flag down passing police, who commenced inquiries.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command arrested the 48-year-old man nearby and he was taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with sexually touch another person without consent, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, not comply with previous move on direction, and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 – COVID-19.

The Glebe man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 18 April 2020).
