NSW police lay charges over fatal crash in Airport Tunnel

A man has been charged over a crash in the Airport Tunnel earlier this year, in which a woman died and three people were seriously injured.

Emergency services were called to General Holmes Drive at Mascot after two vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lane about 5.40am (Thursday 6 February 2020).

A 29-year-old woman – one of five people in the northbound vehicle – died at the scene; two fellow passengers sustained multiple injuries, while the sole occupant of the southbound vehicle was also injured.

Following investigations by the Crash Investigation Unit, a 35-year-old man has been charged with negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and drive vehicle, illicit drug present in blood.

The man, from Bass Hill, has been granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 11 September 2020.
