NSW police seize loaded firearms during vehicle stop at Cobar

Three firearms and several knives were seized by police during a vehicle stop in the state’s central west.

About 10.45am on Friday (20 September 2019), officers attached to Central North Police District stopped a Ford Ranger utility on the Kidman Way, approximately 36km south of Cobar, following reports of rural stock crime occurring in the area.

Officers spoke with the 32-year-old male driver before conducting a search of the vehicle.

Police located two loaded firearms, an unloaded shotgun, ammunition and four knives which were allegedly unsecured and not appropriately stored.

Three dogs were also located in a cage on the rear tray of the utility. They were scanned for identification, however none of the dogs were microchipped.

Police seized the firearms and ammunition.

The man will be issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for not keep firearm safely and an infringement notice for possess knife in public place.

He was issued an infringement noticed for not identify companion animal as prescribed as per the Companion Animals Act.
