NSW police update: Man dies in three-vehicle crash

A man has died following a crash involving two cars and a truck in the Airport Tunnel, Mascot, today.

About 6.45am (Friday 21 August 2020), emergency services were called to General Holmes Drive after reports that a blue Toyota Yaris, a Kia Sportage and a truck collided before the M5 turnoff.

Police were told the Toyota was travelling north and the truck was travelling south, when they collided in the southbound lanes. As a consequence of the first impact, the Kia – also travelling north – was then hit.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The driver of the Toyota, a 32-year-old man, man died at the scene.

The driver of the Kia, a 38-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St George Hospital for observation.

The truck driver, a man also aged 32, was taken for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene has been established, with the Crash Investigation Unit conducting inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
