The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) will officially launch its new $56.4 million-dollar fleet of rescue vehicles on Sunday 8th September.
Rescue trucks, snowmobiles, command vehicles, trailers and boats will be on display so that Sydney-siders can see first hand the equipment that NSW SES volunteers use to save lives.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Hon. David Elliot, says that NSW SES volunteers play a crucial part in keep the community safe.
“NSW SES volunteers have a very special role to play and that’s why we have to make sure their equipment is modern and provides effective and efficient capability during emergencies,” says Mr Elliot.
The NSW SES will be hosting a free Family Fun Day to celebrate the launch, including a road crash rescue demonstration, virtual reality stand and flood rescue activities. The Family Fun Day will be on from 10:30am to 2:30pm at International Peace Park in Seven Hills.
NSW SES Commissioner Kyle Stewart said the new fleet will increase the capability of the NSW SES to support communities prior to and during emergencies.
“NSW SES volunteers use this equipment every day to save lives and protect their communities,” says Mr Stewart.
“I welcome everyone to come and celebrate the official launch of our new fleet.”
The NSW SES has 9,500 volunteers who partner with their communities prior to and during emergencies.
