NSW SES Wingecarribee ‘push up’ for mental health

NSW State Emergency Service volunteers from the Wingecarribee Unit are raising money for mental health by doing 3128 push-ups each over 21 days.

The Push Up Challenge aims to raise money for Headspace by asking people to complete 3128 push-ups. The number 3128 represents the number of lives lost in Australia due to mental health issues in 2017.

NSW SES volunteers have been assisting their community impacted by the damaging winds, by responding to requests for assistance since last Thursday (10th July, 2019) says Wingecarribee Unit Commander Heather Rowe.

“While working in Wingecarribee Unit headquarters or out in the field each of our volunteers have been breaking briefly to do their push ups and meet their daily goals. We’re getting very fit!”, says Ms Rowe

“The NSW SES is committed to promoting and protecting the mental health and wellbeing of all our volunteers,” says Zone Commander Colin Malone.
