NSW Telco Authority launches the Price Guide for Satellite Internet Services

The new resource was developed to help government agencies choose the latest satellite connectivity solutions on the market.

NSW Telco Authority launched the Price Guide for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet services under the NSW Government’s procurement scheme (SCM0053).

The resource provides Emergency Services Organisations and government agencies with an overview and indicative pricing of the latest satellite connectivity solutions available on the market.

This includes a carefully curated list of around 120 existing and emerging products and approximately 200 data plans.

As part of our Next Generation Digital Connectivity initiative, we engaged extensively with the market to identify the most promising satellite solutions.

We also recently carried out a series of LEO satellite trials. After acquiring high-performance and mobile terminals, we tested the satellites across remote and urban locations across the state with our agency partners.

The data collected during these trials helped us customise satellite plans that align with government needs. These are included in the Price Guide.

The Price Guide establishes Standing Offer Agreements for satellite internet services under the SCM0053 procurement scheme for Operational Telecommunications Equipment, Infrastructure and Services.

This means Emergency Services Organisations and government agencies can procure satellite connectivity solutions more quickly and easily, while avoiding lengthy procurement processes for small value purchases.
