With the announcement of the NSW Women in Life Sciences Luncheon 2024 speakers, industry is encouraged to register for the must-attend event taking place on International Women’s Day, as seats at the table are limited.
An expert panel consisting of Karen Hood, Country Lead & General Manager, General Medicines, Sanofi; Dr Deborah Burnett, Group Leader, Garvan Institute of Medical Research; Dr Terrance Fitzsimmons, Managing Director, Australian Gender Equality Council; Dr Gisela Mautner, CEO & Managing Director, Noxopharm (ASX:NOX); and Professor Doug Hilton AO, Chief Executive, CSIRO, has been formed to discuss ‘Innovations in equality: Investing in the future of women in life sciences’, at the NSW Women in Life Sciences Luncheon on Friday 8 March 2024.
Co-hosted by AusBiotech and Medicines Australia, the theme of this year’s Women in Life Sciences Luncheon, Innovations in equality: Investing in the future of women in life sciences, will delve into key strategies and initiatives aimed at nurturing diversity in the workplace, fuelling female ambition, and propelling women into leadership roles, with panellists sharing their experiences and insights on advancing women in the life sciences.
The annual Women in Life Sciences Luncheon is timed to celebrate International Women’s Day, on 8 March, and brings together up to 550 leaders and future leaders from across Australia. It is focused on connecting the community to encourage, support, and further develop women in the life sciences sector in order to achieve a more equal standing in the biotech, pharma and medtech workplace.

Become a Big Sister or Little Sister
Make a commitment: The successful ‘Big Sisters’ programme invites leaders in the sector to connect with those aspiring to a career or career progression in the life sciences. It provides a practical and tangible way to support and encourage women in the late stages of their studies to enter a career in life sciences.
Big Sisters will sponsor women students to attend the event and meet their network during the Luncheon. Sponsorship of a Little Sister is for the duration of the Luncheon only. Up to 30 women students will be sponsored to attend the event and receive a one-year membership of AusBiotech. To include this sponsorship please select the checkbox during the registration process.
Applications to be a Little Sisters are also being received. To become a Little Sister, applicants must be enrolled in an under-graduate or post-graduate course in life sciences, identify as a woman, and live in NSW.
