The Northern Territory has recorded 37 new cases of COVID-19.
Nine cases are linked to the NT outbreak, bringing the total case count for the cluster to 163.
These new cases are from Katherine and Tennant Creek and are all household contacts of previously recorded cases of COVID-19.
The additional 28 cases include:
· 11 cases in interstate arrivals.
· Ten cases in household contacts of interstate arrivals.
· Two cases in people who attended an event in Darwin where a COVID-19 positive case was present on December 23.
· A nurse from Royal Darwin Hospital. Contact tracing is underway.
· Four cases are under investigation.
The interstate arrivals includes two US Marines at Robinson Barracks, and a mine site worker at Groote Eylandt.
The household contacts of intestate arrivals include a staff member from the Centre for National Resilience (CNR). Contact tracing is underway.
New public exposure sites in the NT have been identified and are now available on the NT COVID-19 website here. It is important all people in the NT regularly check the COVID-19 website to review the list of exposure sites.
There are currently 21 people with COVID-19 in hospital, but only four are classified as acute hospital admissions. No COVID-19 patients are in ICU. The majority of admissions are for the purposes of infection control and assessment.
3,625 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday.
It is important all Territorians and visitors get tested for COVID-19 if showing any symptoms such as a cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, change in taste or smell and a sore throat.
COVID-19 testing sites are open in Nhulunbuy, Katherine, Darwin, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. Testing is also available at NT Health clinics in remote communities.
