Applications are open for funding to assist individuals and organisations working on projects relating to significant non-government heritage places and objects in the Northern Territory.
Applicants have until 31 May 2021 to apply for individual grants of up to $20,000.
If applicants have a larger project in mind, they are encouraged to consider implementing the project over stages.
Territory Families, Housing and Communities CE Ken Davies PSM said this was an opportunity for applicants to obtain funding to maintain the Territory’s unique heritage which contributed so much to its identity.
“It is important to protect our rich legacy of heritage places and objects in order to ensure their continuation for our future generations,” he said.
Priority will be given to places and objects protected by the Heritage Act 2011, but grants may also be considered for work to other places and objects of historical importance.
Physical conservation work, including preservation, maintenance, restoration, reconstruction and interpretation may be carried out on:
• Buildings and other structures
• Aboriginal archaeological sites
• Places of social significance
• Places of natural significance, including flora, fauna and geological sites
• Moveable objects.
Projects involving research and documentation, and promotional projects may also be considered.
Applicants must contact the Heritage Branch on 8999 5039 prior to submitting their application to ensure the project is eligible for funding.
Grant applications should be made through the GrantsNT website.
