Twenty-three New York University faculty members are recognized as pioneers in their fields and have been named to Clarivate Analytics’ 2023 list of Highly Cited Researchers. The annual list identifies researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence by publishing influential papers that are frequently cited by other researchers.

According to Clarivate, only one in 1,000 of the world’s scientists and social scientists is named a highly cited researcher-a population that “contributes disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure.”

The scientists and social scientists named to the list have published multiple influential papers that rank in the top 1% by citations in their fields over the past decade, based on Clarivate’s Web of Science citation index.
