NZ police appeal for information into Hamilton incidents

As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson:

Waikato Police are seeking information from the public following a number of assaults that occured in Hamilton overnight.

An 18-year-old local man was stabbed in the chest during an incident near Hood Street.

The man is reported to be in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital.

Police understand this incident was connected to a number of assaults and fights that occurred around 2:25am in the Market Place area.

A second man was left unconscious at the location after he was king hit and kicked on the ground, and a third man was also assaulted.

An 18-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested on charges relating to the stabbing and the other assaults.

The man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday 18 July.

Police urge anyone to come forward who was in the area and has information regarding these incidents, or are aware of similar incidents occurring around the same time.

We are committed to identifying all those involved in last night’s events and holding them to account.

Police are aware this incident may have been recorded by onlookers and are seeking their assistance as part of the investigation.
