O’Rourke Joins Australian Grand Prix Corporation Board

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation Board has been further strengthened by the appointment of business leader John O’Rourke.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today confirmed Mr O’Rourke had accepted a position on the Board for a term of three-years.

Mr O’Rourke brings extensive private sector board experience to the role, along with a substantial career as a developer, investor and manager of infrastructure projects in Australia, Singapore, Canada and the United States.

He is the founder and Chairman of Plenary – an international property and infrastructure investment company specialising in Public Private Partnerships.

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is responsible for the running of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park and Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

Melbourne will be in the global spotlight when the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix kicks off next week, with hundreds-of-thousands of fans pouring through the gates throughout the event from 7-10 April.

Tickets have already sold out for Saturday and Sunday of the race weekend – providing a major boost to tourism and hospitality businesses and also supporting local jobs.
