Off-duty officer charged – Specialist Command 19 December, NSW

An off-duty police officer has been charged with drink-driving in Sydney’s Inner West.

Just before 8pm yesterday (Friday 18 December 2020), officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command stopped a vehicle at Lilyfield, for the purpose of a random breath test.

The driver, a 51-year-old chief inspector attached to a specialist command, returned a positive reading.

He was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.054.

A Court Attendance Notice was served for low range PCA and his licence was suspended.

He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 12 February 2021.

The officer’s duty status will be assessed.
