Dubbo Showground Master Plan Gives Ideas For Future

A draft master plan is on display, asking our community how Dubbo Showground could become a central events hub for the wider region.

The draft Dubbo Showground Master Plan is now on public exhibition, setting out a vision for the future, with proposed shearing areas, pavilion precincts and an open event green for concerts.

The plan supports existing users while broadening the appeal of the site to deliver new social and economic benefits for the region.

“The Dubbo Showground has served our region since 1876, and now, you have until Monday 23 November to help shape its future.

“This draft master plan is about making sure the showground precinct keeps serving our community for generations to come,” Manager Performing Arts and Events Linda Christof said.

The plan proposes future pavilion upgrades, new event greens and multipurpose stages with covered spectator areas. It also backs existing users with proposed upgrades to the cattle pavilion, a new animal nursery and improvements to the harness racing grandstand, including more seating.

“Our key user groups have told us what works, what doesn’t and what they need to grow, and the draft plan reflects that.

“We now want to hear from the wider community, including people who attend events and those who may want to hold their own event at the Showground. Every submission will be reviewed and will help inform the final plan,” Ms Christof said.

The plan is a long-term blueprint, with projects to be delivered in stages over 10 years, subject to funding and approvals.

It has been designed by Locale Consulting, who have engaged directly with key user groups during the process, including lessees and major event organisers.
