Officer charged – Southern Region 14 January, NSW

A police officer has been charged over an alleged assault in the state’s south.

In January 2020, an investigation commenced after a complaint was received about an alleged assault involving an on-duty sergeant during an arrest in 2017.

Earlier today (Thursday 14 January 2021), the 52-year-old sergeant, who is attached to a command in the Southern Region, was served a Future Court Attendance Notice for one count of common assault.

He is due to appear at Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 2 March 2021.

His employment status is currently under review.
