ANZ today announced plans to open a new branch in Bendigo, strengthening its presence in regional Australia and investing in face-to-face banking in one of Victoria’s largest and fastest-growing communities.
The new branch reflects ANZ’s long-term commitment to regional Australia and recognises the important role branches continue to play in providing customers and communities with access to cash, face-to-face banking services and support when they need it.
ANZ is currently considering potential locations across Bendigo to identify a site that will best serve customers, provide an accessible and convenient place to bank, and create a great environment for employees to work.
ANZ General Manager of Branch Network for Victoria, Kathleen Jahour, said maintaining access to regional face-to-face banking remained a priority.
“Branches remain an important part of how many people choose to bank, particularly in regional communities. They provide customers with access to cash, face-to-face banking services and trusted support when they need it most.
“Bendigo is a thriving regional community, and opening a new branch here demonstrates our commitment to regional Australia while giving local customers another convenient place to do their banking.”
The Bendigo branch supports ANZ’s new Regional Branch Commitment, under which ANZ will maintain a branch presence in every regional community where either ANZ or Suncorp Bank operates today until at least December 2030. ANZ has also committed to maintaining at least two branches in regional communities with populations of more than 100,000 people and at least three branches in communities with populations above 200,000.
The new Bendigo branch also builds on ANZ’s previously announced $30 million investment in its branch network and the recent expansion of Saturday trading at selected branches across Australia, giving customers greater flexibility to access face-to-face banking services.
The investment reflects ANZ’s 2030 strategy and its focus on delivering more for customers, including by strengthening its frontline presence and raising the standard of every customer interaction.
