A police officer has been charged over an alleged assault in the state’s west.
Police commenced an investigation following a report a male probationary constable attached to the Western Region allegedly assaulted a woman at a home in Broken Hill on Saturday (15 August 2026).
No injuries were reported.
Following inquiries, the officer was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice for one charge of common assault yesterday (Sunday 23 August 2026).
He is due to appear before Broken Hill Local Court on Monday 12 October 2026.
The officer’s employment status is under review, and he remains in the workplace on restricted duties.
