Officers assaulted in Granville

Inquiries are continuing after two officers were assaulted in Granville today.

About 11am (Saturday 20 June 2020), police were called to Louis Street after concerns were raised about the welfare of a resident.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and spoke with an 18-year-old man.

It’s alleged the man became violent and kicked two male officers, before biting one of them on the wrist.

The man was subdued and taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment, where he remains.

Both officers were also taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment and have since been released.

An investigation is underway.
