From tactical displays to one-on-one conversations, thousands of visitors gained a unique insight into a rewarding policing career at the NSW Police Open Day this weekend.

The community was today (Sunday 11 October 2026), able to join officers from a number of specialist units including PolAir, Marine Area Command, Police Rescue, Forensic Services, Highway Patrol, the Dog and Mounted Units, Police Recruitment, Police Legacy, and Crime Stoppers, who all play a part in keeping NSW communities safe.

Held at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, families and aspiring police officers of all ages were given a rare opportunity to get up close to police vehicles and equipment. It was also a chance for people to learn about the recruitment process, specialist career options, and connect with their local Police Area Command.

Visitors were entertained by performances from the renowned 32-piece NSW Police Band, adding to the atmosphere throughout the day.

Central Metropolitan Region Acting Commander, Detective Inspector Adam Solah, said the event highlighted the breadth of opportunities available within the NSW Police Force.

“It was great to welcome so many members of the community and provide an opportunity to learn more about policing and the people behind the uniform,” Supt Fileman said.

“Visitors had the chance to speak with officers, learn about different specialist roles and gain valuable insight into the skills, dedication and experiences that come with a job in policing.”

“The enthusiasm shown throughout the day was outstanding, and we hope to see some of today’s young visitors in the next generation of the NSW Police Force.”

NSW Police continues to encourage people from all backgrounds to consider a career in policing, with a variety of roles available across metropolitan, regional and specialist commands all over the state.
