Offshore Renewables Licence Information Disclosure

New regulations mean some information from applications made under the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021, will be available to the public.

The Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Amendment (Information Disclosure) Regulations 2024, provide for the Minister for Climate Change and Energy and the Offshore Infrastructure Registrar to disclose specific details from these applications.

In the case of a feasibility licence application this includes:

  • the applicant’s name
  • general details about the proposed licence area
  • basic project information.

The regulations cover various types of licence applications such as:

  • grants
  • variations
  • extension
  • transfers
  • surrenders.

Commercially sensitive information will remain confidential.

The offshore electricity industry is important for mitigating climate change boosting economic growth, and generating employment opportunities.
