Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds Grand win at New York Festivals Awards

ABC programs have come away with a suite of awards at the New York Festivals Awards for TV, Film and Radio.

Season 2 of much-loved ABC Factual series Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds was the ABC’s big winner when it was named the only Australian Grand Award winner at the prestigious New York Festivals TV and Film Awards. The awards recognise the most innovative and entertaining screen content from more than 50 countries around the world.

The uplifting series which demonstrates the physical and mental benefits of bringing together the very young and very old in a retirement home was awarded the Grand Award in the Social Issues, Documentary category and a Gold Award in the same category.

Of the win, Jennifer Collins, Head of Factual and Culture said “We are delighted to see the recognition of our content on the global stage, and particularly honoured to have Old People’s Home for 4 year olds awarded for its excellence. Books that Made Us and Total Control season 2 were named Gold Award winners in the Arts, Documentary and Drama, Entertainment Program categories.

The ABC iview “Don’t be Surprised” campaign was also awarded gold in the station promotion category.

The New York Festivals Radio Awards honoured ABC podcast Days Like These – Jaleh’s Drive for Freedom with a Gold Award in the Personal Lives Podcast category and the ABC/CBC collaboration Stuff the British Stole was awarded gold in the Culture & the Arts, Documentary category.

Zan Rowe’s Take 5 Podcast also came away with a Silver Award in the Music Podcast category.

New York Festivals Radio Awards honour radio content in all lengths and formats and across all platforms from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from around the globe.
