A man is in custody after another man was stabbed multiple times at Merrylands overnight.
Emergency services were called to Post Office Lane about 11pm (Sunday 21 February 2021), and found a 38-year-old man with multiple stab wounds being assisted by passers-by.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and conducted a canvass of the area.
Police believe the man was stabbed following an argument with another person, shortly before he was found injured.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 30-year-old man about 3am today (Monday 22 February 2021), outside a home in Newman Street, Merrylands.
He has been taken to Granville Police Station with a number of items, including a knife, seized for forensic examination.
