One-on-one sessions with retail expert Martin Ginnane

Retail expert Martin Ginnane will visit Warrnambool next week to provide free one-on-one sessions with local businesses as part of Council’s business support response to COVID-19.

Mr Ginanne was the first ever Retail Industry Specialist for the Victorian Government and he’s previously worked with retail giants such as Myer and Uniqlo.

Martin is no stranger to Warrnambool, having visited the city a number of times over the past few years to offer tailored advice to retail and hospitality businesses.

Darriwill Farm Warrnambool owner Lisa Pitkethly first met Martin during the City Centre Renewal works and loves hearing his insights.

“Martin is a retail expert extraordinaire,” she said.

“He comes in with a different view and sees things that maybe you might not see yourself.

“He’s helped me to think outside the square and to look at things in a different way.

“An example is a hedgehog that we make here in store. Instead of just calling it a hedgehog, now it’s a ‘hedgehog made in-store, especially for you’, so just emphasising that local and personal aspect.”

Ms Pitkethy said that as experienced as Mr Ginnane is, he is down to earth and happy to engage in conversations.

“He’s well-travelled and he knows what he’s talking about, but he doesn’t tell you to do anything. He just suggests things that you might want to think about,” she said.

“For a business that hasn’t met him before, you’ve got nothing to lose.

“I don’t know everything, and if someone can come in with different eyes and give me new ideas, I’m all for it.

“I still keep in contact with him through Facebook and Instagram.”

Don’t miss your chance to have one of Victoria’s leading retail experts all to yourself for an hour.

Sessions with Martin are available on Tuesday June 9, Wednesday June 10 and Thursday June 11.
