Online shopping? What to do with all that packaging

Many people are now embracing online shopping and with that comes an increase in packaging that they possibly didn’t have to deal with before. The good news is that most of it can be recycled for FREE.

Cardboard can go into your yellow lid bin and can also be taken to any of our Depots for free. To help prevent contaminating our cardboard recycling process, we ask that you please remove any and all plastic, including as much masking tape as possible.

Polystyrene, (foam) the CLEAN, white sheets commonly found in electronic goods packaging can also be accepted at our Depots for free. Please always separate your polystyrene and cardboard and place them in their allocated disposal locations. Other ‘foam-like’ packaging such as pellets and thin translucent sheets (that fold into a ball) go into your red lid bin.

Please, never place polystyrene in your yellow lid bin. It can only be recycled at the Depots.

Soft plastic, including postal bags and bubble wrap can be taken to Coles or Woolworths for recycling via the REDcycle bins.

And remember, if you have bought new electronic items, the old ones can be recycled for free at any of our depots.
