Operation Daydream – New England Police District, NSW

Traffic and drug offences were the focus of a two-day high visibility police operation conducted in the state’s New England region this month.

Between 11am on Thursday (5 December 2019) and 4pm on Friday (6 December 2019), officers attached to New England Police District with assistance from Traffic & Highway Patrol conducted Operation Daydream on the New England Highway at Jennings, 18 kilometres north of Tenterfield.

The two-day operation involved random breath and drug tests, heavy vehicle inspections and a drug dog operation.

During the operation, police conducted 782 stationary random breath tests, nine mobile random breath tests, and 26 heavy vehicle inspections.

Police served one Firearms Prohibition Order, two traffic infringement notices for licence offences, and one court attendance notice for firearms offence.

Chief Inspector Ann Joy of New England Police District said the operation was well received by motorists.

“Police received numerous compliments from the travelling public in relation to the professional and courteous manner in which officers conducted their duty,” she said.

“Officers attached to New England Police District will continue to target traffic and drug offences across the police district.”
