Operation Green: Police Dig Out Cannabis Operation

Auckland Police have seized close to 500 cannabis plants following an operation targeting organised crime groups in the area.

On Tuesday, Police executed four search warrants at properties in Hillsborough, New Windsor, Mount Roskill, and Mount Albert as part of Operation Green.

Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Foster, Auckland City West Police, says the operation targeted organised criminal activity in the area, aiming to shut down any further impact to the community.

“As a result, Police located and dismantled several sophisticated indoor cultivation setups, seizing approximately 486 cannabis plants in varying sizes, along with associated equipment.

“By locating and seizing these cannabis plants, we have prevented them receiving payment that would have gone to fund a range of organised criminal activity in our community.”

Acting Senior Sergeant Foster says although no arrests have been made, he hoped the results would provide some community reassurance.

Police would like to acknowledge the support by members of the public around information on illegal operations occurring within their community.

“We continue to encourage the community to provide us any information on any such concerns they may have,” he says.

“This can be done online or via phone at 105, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.”
