OPPEN Introduces Scandi-Inspired “Smörgåsbord” to Celebrate the Spring Racing Carnival Launch

from Milk Bottle Projects

OPPEN is excited to unveil their exclusive offering for the month of November, featuring some of their signature flavours in the form of a Swedish Smörgåsbord with a twist.

The Scandinavian inspired restaurant, located at 20/2 Maddock Street in Windsor, offers a selection of dishes that lean into the simple yet classic flavour profiles of the Scandinavian region, with their offerings highlighting quality, seasonal and fresh ingredients. Aligning with typical Scandinavian stylings, the restaurant features a soft colour palette, subtle textures and a minimalistic aesthetic and a menu which highlights these same ideals.

The Smörgåsbord is a culinary concept that has deep roots in Swedish culture and is often associated with holidays and special occasions. Drawing a parallel to the ethos of Scandi dining, OPPEN’s co-owner, Amy Vo mentions “this special offering is a symphony of taste that captures the essence of the Spring Racing Carnival – a celebration of tradition, innovation, and togetherness” making it the perfect choice for a pre-race indulgence.

Inspired by a traditional Swedish “sandwich table”, OPPEN’s new Smörgåsbord is loaded with signature creations personally crafted by esteemed Chef and owner, Zume Pham. Staying true to tradition, the Smörgåsbord includes a selection of cold seafood and meats, cheese and preserved vegetables, with an unlimited supply of freshly baked house-made rye bread and sourdough to assemble your open sandwich. Typically presented on a wooden grazing board, a Smörgåsbord is intended to be shared among friends and family in a buffet style, offering diners a chance to sample some of the restaurant’s popular flavour combinations, including OPPEN’s house-cured Tassie salmon with creme fraiche, rare roast beef with onion crisp, ham and cheese croquettes, new potato and pickled onion, tomato salsa, Danish feta, Kalamata and an assortment of house-preserved vegetables.

The Smörgåsbord comes with three beverage packages, including a glass of sparkling wine for $39 per person; a cocktail for $44 per person; or a choice of free-flowing house wines and beers during the 2-hour time slot for $49 per person.

OPPEN is known for its commitment to delivering outstanding Scandinavian dining experiences with their passion for blending tradition and innovation at the forefront of their menu, and their latest offering is no exception. Available every weekend throughout November (Saturdays and Sundays) from 8am to 4pm, this new promo is set to make waves as the ideal pre-race or long weekend celebration. Bookings are highly recommended to secure your spot but walk-ins are also welcome.
