Optus strengthens coverage in Dongolocking North

Optus has switched on a new tower in Dongolocking North as part of the Australian Governments Mobile Black Spot Program.

The macrocell site will provide enhanced mobile coverage to 45 local premises, with over 400 square kilometres covered including over 200 kilometres of major roads including sections of Dongolocking Road.

Lambo Kanagaratnam, Vice President of Networks, said Optus is pleased to provide the local community with greater mobile competition and choice as well as access to reliable mobile coverage and data.

Were proud to offer our local customers with much-needed access to our 4G service. This tower will provide customers with greater coverage, whether they live and work in the region or are just travelling through, as well as choice when it comes to a network provider,” he said.

The investment in expanding Optus telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage is also supported by the Australian Governments Mobile Black Spot Program.

ABOUT THE MOBILE BLACK SPOT PROGRAM

The Government has committed $380 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program (the Program) to invest in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile coverage and competition across Australia.

The Program is supported by co-contributions from state and local governments, mobile network operators, businesses, and local communities.
