Orange Regional Museum responds to COVID-19 crisis

As a valued member of our Museum community, we want to keep you informed about how we are dealing with the COVID-19 crisis and its local implications.

The Museum is complying with the recommendations of national and state health authorities about managing the COVID-19 crisis.

Orange Regional Museum had a number of events coming up over the next 2 weeks. These events were likely to attract between 50 and 200 people.

In light of recent changes to health recommendations, and in consultation with the presenters of these events, Orange Regional Museum will be temporarily suspending these events which we will try to reschedule if possible.

This means that gatherings such as our opening event for Capturing Nature: Early photography at the Australian Museum 1857-1893 and Regenerate on Friday 27 March, as well as our Curator Conversations event on Saturday 28 March will not go ahead. Our Mondays at the Museum program will also be temporarily suspended from 23 March.

We are still closed as planned to install our upcoming exhibitions Capturing Nature and Regenerate, which will open to the public from 9am on Saturday 28 March. The Museum will continue to be a safe and welcoming space in which you can still enjoy our exhibitions between 9am and 4pm daily.

It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the places our community gathers are healthy and safe. It is even more important than ever that you choose not to come to the Museum if you are experiencing cold or flu like symptoms.

It’s also important to maintain an increased level of hygiene (handwashing, covering coughs/sneezes). Museum staff are also placing an increased emphasis on hygiene, including extra disinfection of surfaces.

This is a situation where there will be ongoing developments and questions. The Museum is committed to keeping its community informed with up to date information and answering queries about major developments as they emerge, via our e-list, website and social media.

In the meantime, our team continue to work towards future exhibitions and programs and we look forward to seeing you at Orange Regional Museum.
