Origami fun for creative young stars

Sunshine Coast Council

Keep your bright stars entertained before Christmas and come along to Caloundra Regional Gallery’s outreach program, the Brightest Star workshops, at Venue 114 from December 10.

Local artist Kim Schoenberger, well-known for her work using paper, fabric and unique materials, has developed the Brightest Star workshops that will explore traditional Origami and have kids delighted.

Using paint transfer and frottage techniques, workshop participants will have the opportunity to create their own original design on paper.

When the paper is ready, they will use the Japanese art of paper folding to make two origami stars, one to take home, and one to hang on an installation wall that will become the You’re the Brightest Star exhibition.

Workshops are available from Monday, December 10 to Friday, December 14, 10am – 12pm and 2-4pm at Venue 114, 114 Sportsman Parade, Bokarina.

The cost is $5 per child per two-hour workshop (suitable for ages seven-17). Bookings are required.
