Council has made a final decision under delegation to refuse the application for a primary school at 585 Belgrave-Hallam Road. The application was considered to be an unacceptable development for a Green Wedge Zone.
The proposal also highlighted a number of significant impacts the application would have on the site and surrounding area, particularly relating to traffic and the environment. It also would have had limited to no access to public transport or safe walking and cycling routes.
The site was not considered to be an appropriate location for a primary school as it would result in non-agricultural use and development accessing a rural road.
