More than 5,000 apprentices and trainees in the Blue Mountains have enrolled in Fee Free training, highlighting strong demand for local training pathways that lead to jobs.
The Minns Labor Government’s Fee Free training initiatives are helping address workforce demand across the Blue Mountains by building the skilled workforce local businesses need in priority industries, such as construction, healthcare, aged and disability care, early childhood education, and technology.
In the Blue Mountains, Fee Free training is helping more local residents gain qualifications close to home, build rewarding careers, and contribute to the region’s long-term economic growth.
As the Blue Mountains region continues to grow and diversify, TAFE NSW plays a key role in developing a skilled local workforce and supporting economic growth.
The program is opening doors for people who have traditionally faced barriers to education, such as regional learners, low-income earners, women entering non-traditional trades, people with disability, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan said:
“More than 5,000 enrolments in Fee Free training across the Blue Mountains is a terrific result and highlights the growing demand for affordable, high-quality training in regional communities.
“By removing financial barriers, the Minns Labor Government is helping more people gain the skills employers need in key industries like construction, health, early childhood education and technology.
“The program is giving people the skills that work and creating real pathways to employment. It means more people can secure rewarding jobs close to home and contribute to a stronger Blue Mountains community.”
