P-plate driver caught 60km/h+ over speed limit in Moorebank

A provisional driver has had his licence suspended after being detected driving at more than 60km/h above the speed limit in Sydney’s south-west this morning.

Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were performing radar duties along Newbridge Road, Moorebank, about 12.40am today (Saturday 17 April 2021), when they detected a silver Audi sedan was detected allegedly travelling west at 133km/h in a 70km/h zone.

The driver stopped when directed and produced a P1 provisional licence; inquiries established that the vehicle was unregistered.

The 20-year-old male driver was issued infringements for exceed speed over 45km/h, and for drive unregistered vehicle.

He was also served a six-month licence suspension notice and the vehicle’s registration plates were seized by police.

Liverpool Highway Patrol sector supervisor, Inspector Dale Abbott, said the actions of the driver were beyond belief.

“I can’t believe that there are still drivers who feel that they can disobey the speed limits and put everyone at risk by their selfish and irresponsible actions”, Inspector Abbott said.

“All drivers, especially young drivers, need to understand that you can’t exceed the speed limit,” he said.
