Patterson re-elected as Deputy Mayor for Kempsey Shire

Councillor Anthony Patterson was re-elected as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

A local businessman and long-time resident of the Macleay, Cr Patterson was first elected to Council in 2012.

“I see it as an honour to be deputy mayor amongst the community and for this fantastic council and leadership by our mayor Liz Campbell,” Cr Patterson said.

“I also think that council has moved forward again in the last 12 months in showing its resilience in what it’s had to deal with, with bushfires and COVID.

“I’d like to express my appreciation to the General Manager and to all the Directors and staff for being so helpful in helping me in conducting my position and all the other Councillors.”

Mayor Liz Campbell congratulated Cr Patterson on his reappointment and said she looks forward to continuing working with him for the next 12 months.

Council conducts an election for the deputy mayor each September.

The Deputy Mayor may exercise any function of the Mayor at the request of the Mayor, or if the Mayor is prevented from exercising the function; or if there is a casual vacancy in the office of Mayor.
