Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a hit-run collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Clayton last night.
It is believed a woman was crossing Wellington Road near Scenic Boulevard when she was hit by a dark coloured wagon travelling west about 9.45pm.
The woman, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene and the driver of the vehicle failed to stop.
The vehicle was later found dumped at a property on North Road in Clayton about 11pm.
Investigators believe the vehicle was travelling at high speeds prior to the collision and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have dash-cam footage.
Wellington Road is blocked to west-bound traffic.
