Pedestrian serious after being hit by car at Dapto, NSW

A man has been seriously injured after being struck by a SUV at Dapto overnight.

Emergency services were called after a man was found unconscious in Byamee Street about 11.35pm (Wednesday 25 December 2019).

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene for serious head injuries before he was taken to Wollongong Hospital, where it’s expected he will be airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District have established a crime scene and will be conducting a canvass of the neighbourhood.

A woman who was driving the SUV stopped and has spoken with police; the driver returned a negative breath test at the scene and inquiries are continuing.
