People Of Perth To Get Free Air Show

RAAF

Perth’s Langley Park will host a free Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) air show in 2027.

Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel Minister Matt Keogh made the announcement at Perth Royal Show’s Defence and Veterans’ Day on October 1.

More than 30,000 spectators attended the show’s Defence and Veterans’ Day, exploring the Defence Hub, meeting representatives of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, RAAF and partner agencies, to learn about military life and career opportunities.

Mr Keogh said next year’s air show would be a display of thrilling acrobatics and high-speed jets.

“With the stunning Swan River as the backdrop, crowds will have a fantastic opportunity to experience a unique spectacle of sights and sounds up close, thanks to the incredible skills of our Royal Australian Air Force aviators and Australian Defence Force personnel,” Mr Keogh said.

Show attendees were treated to their own spectacle during the show, with 79 Squadron’s Hawk 127 lead‑in fighter kicking off a firepower demonstration in the main arena, while the 10th Light Horse Regiment’s protected mobility vehicles laid down support fire for 13th Brigade infantry personnel in the simulated warfighting scenario.

‘Our aviators are ready to come back to Perth and put on an unforgettable show, an awe-inspiring display of the sophisticated air power of our Air Force and its people.’

Commander 13th Brigade Brigadier Damian Bushell said it was important for Defence to display its capabilities to the Australian public.

“The Perth Royal Show provides one of the largest opportunities each year for Defence to engage directly with Western Australians,” Brigadier Bushell said.

“It allows the public to learn about Defence, meet our people, view military capability and understand the important work being conducted by the ADF.”

Air Force Head of Air Shows Air Commodore Mick Gray said it would be great to provide an air show for the people of Western Australia.

“Our aviators are ready to come back to Perth and put on an unforgettable show, an awe-inspiring display of the sophisticated air power of our Air Force and its people,” Air Commodore Gray said.
