During June, conversations about having an alternate way to get home rather than driving after a few drinks, have been occurring in pubs, clubs, and bottle shops across the Shoalhaven as part of the Plan B – Win a Swag promotion.
Ten local businesses joined forces with Shoalhaven City Council and Transport for NSW, to run the competition which offered patrons the chance to win one of two swags valued at just under $300 each for nominating their Plan B for getting home.
Congratulations to our humble winners did not want their photo taken or names mentioned, and thanks to everyone who took part in the promotion.
A big thank you to the participating businesses who really got behind the campaign. It was great to see their staff wearing Plan B t-shirts, and the businesses displaying Plan B posters, coasters and talking to and inviting patrons to participate.
We received 313 entry forms, and a lot of great Plan B ideas:
- Sleeping on the beach
- Get the kids to pick me up
- Catching a hot air balloon
- Being pushed in a wheel-barrow
- Tiptoeing through the tulips
Make sure you have a Plan B if you’re having a few drinks, drink driving is one of the biggest causes of death and injuries on NSW roads. Drink driving contributes to 8% of casualty crashes in the Shoalhaven.
We don’t suggest getting a hot air balloon, but we do suggest having a designated driver or catching a ride on the courtesy bus.
