Planning for Fortitude Drive Reserve

Wyndham City has commenced community engagement on the Draft Master Plan for Fortitude Drive Reserve to ensure that resident’s needs, ideas and concerns are reflected as part of Wyndham’s Sports Strategy and 2040 Vision.

The new active open space is proposed to feature state-of-the-art athletics facilities including a full synthetic track, circuit track and shared use pavilion. As part of the City’s long-term vision, the site will also feature hockey facilities, areas for active and passive activities such as barbeques and picnic areas, walking trails and a playground.

Wyndham City Mayor and Active City portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard said: “When residents leave their feedback on this Draft Master Plan, they’ll be shaping the open spaces and active facilities of our City for years to come.”

“We want to move with what our community want to see and what they want to do.”

The Reserve site is located on the border of Tarneit and Truganina at the corner of Morris Road and Fortitude Drive. The site is approximately 12.96 hectares, is in close proximity to Tarneit Station, the future Tarneit Town Centre and is adjacent to the proposed Truganina North Secondary School.

“Keeping our City active means we need to plan for the future, so following the end of the consultation process, Council will shape and endorse a Final Master Plan from which detailed construction drawings can be created.”

The first stage of development will cost $8.83 million to deliver, providing key athletics infrastructure to meet demand. All other elements of the proposed Draft Master Plan will be delivered as part of a future stage subject to funding availability.
